I'm currently exploring new technologies and its relationships to my traditional painting practice. Educational Practice:

Chris Follows is the Digital Learning Manager at the University of the Arts London (UAL), Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon (CCW) colleges of Arts. Chris supports the advancement of day-to-day digital arts practice through interest led & interdisciplinary activities, projects & events.

Chris initiated and leads Digital Maker Collective (digitalmakercollective.org) an open group of University of the arts staff, students, alumni who share common goals of exploring digital & emerging technologies in the context of arts, education, society and the creative industries. Chris manages and supports the co-creation of Digital Maker Collective events, such as the 'Digital Making Art School' events (2017) at Tate Exchange, Tate Modern, where the Collective are one of 50 UK Tate Exchange Founding Associates from across the country.

European Commission Open Design and Manufacture Project (OD&M):

Chris is leading the CCW contribution of a three-year ‘Open Design and Manufacture’ project (2017-2020), funded under the Knowledge Alliances strand of the Erasmus plus programme – European Commission. A Knowledge Alliance between HEIs, Makers and Manufacturers to boost Open Design & Open Manufacturing in Europe. http://odmplatform.eu/ 

Past projects, conferences and presentations:

Chris joined the University of the Arts London UAL in 2003 and since 2007 and has been exploring and experimenting with new approaches and models for online open practice, collaboration & digital innovation. Chris continues to work on UAL's Open Educational Practice and digital literacies advancements, building on UALs growing reputation as forward thinking university in this newly developing area and presented nationally and internationally, see conferences and presentations here.

Research and project funding from JISC, HEA & The Open University:

Chris has worked on a number of JISC and HEA funded projects including the Developing Digital Literacies programme and the JISC UKOER programmes phases 2 & 3 ALTO & ALTO UK and the development of UALs open practice unit. Between 2011 and 2014 Chris was the DIAL project manager 'Digital Integration Into Arts Learning' part of CLTAD the Centre for Learning and Teaching in Art and Design. In 2012 Chris completed a year-long SCORE fellowship at the Open University.

Voluntary projects:

In 2007 Chris initiated process.arts and in 2013 artsmooc.org voluntary unfunded projects exploring open online communities for sharing art, design and media practice based learning and teaching.
